Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Students Union (KSU), the student wing of Congress, staged a protest against Mayor Arya Rajendran at her residence in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday morning.

Arya Rajendran has been facing flak from opposition parties over a letter allegedly written by her requesting a list of CPM party members to vacancies at the Municipal Corporation hospital.

KSU workers waved black flags and chanted slogans in front of the Mayor's residence minutes after Arya Rajendran left to her office. A protesting worker was stopped by a staff of the Mayor. Later, police took the man into custody. Meanwhile, it is learned that protests are ongoing in front of the Mayor's office in Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation building. Senior leader Ramesh Chennithala will also attend a protest event here.

On Monday, BJP-CPM councillors clashed on the premises of the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation building after opposition councillors tried to get into the chamber of the Mayor.
