TVM college student hailing from AP inflicts burns on hostel roommate

Thiruvananthapuram: A student of the College of Agriculture, Vellayani here has allegedly inflicted burns on her hostel roommate. The student is also accused of thrashing at the roommate’s head with a mobile phone charger.

According to the police complaint, final-year UG student Lohitha was attacking Deepika on May 18. Both the girls hail from Andhra Pradesh.

After the alleged attack, Deepika left for home. Deepika’s parents happened to see burn wounds on her. They informed the matter to the college, following which police were intimated. The college also constituted a four-member committee to dig out more details on the alleged attack.

Meanwhile, police have already taken Lohitha into custody. It is learnt that Lohitha received help from another student for the attack. The method adopted to inflict burns remains unknown. However, police claimed that Lohitha used a utensil for the act.
