Thiruvananthapuram: A special fast-track court here has found clinical psychologist Dr. Girish guilty in the three-year-old sexual assault case involving a minor boy.
Judge Aaj Sudarshan will pronounce the sentence on Thursday.
The accused had been sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment a year ago in a case of molesting another boy. Currently, he is on bail. He was an assistant professor in the health department.
According to the case, Dr Girish molested the child at a private clinic adjacent to his house in Manacaud. The abuse took place between December 6, 2015 and February 21, 2017, when the child was brought in for counselling. The child's mental condition worsened due to constant abuse. The accused also threatened the child not to divulge the abuse, and the child was afraid and did not speak out. The family saw several other psychiatrists, and in 2019, the child was admitted to the Medical College Hospital psychiatry department.
On January 30, 2019, when the doctors took the case history, the boy told them about the doctor molesting him two years ago. It was also said that the accused showed the child obscene videos on the phone. The Fort police registered a case after the medical college authorities informed them.
Special Public Prosecutor RS Vijay Mohan appeared for the prosecution.
