Truth and justice shall prevail: PJ Joseph after HC verdict
Kottayam: Kerala Congress (M) leader PJ Joseph expressed his happiness over the High Court’s decision to stay Election Commission's decision on allotting the ‘two- leaves’ party symbol to Jose K Mani faction. The verdict proves that truth and justice shall prevail, said Joseph.
“Truth and justice shall prevail. God is with us. Out of the three members in the Election Commission panel, one member had voted against the decision. They (Jose K Mani faction) are not eligible to use the party’s name or symbol. The court’s verdict will favour us in the coming days as well,” Joseph stated.
He also pointed out that he is the working chairman and the parliamentary leader of the party. The court order mandating Jose K Mani not to function as the party leader still exists. So Jose K Mani attending the Chief Minister’s meeting as the party leader on Friday is contempt of court.
Joseph’s response came after the High Court stayed the Election Commission’s decision to allot party symbol to Jose K Mani faction. The court’s action was based on the petition filed by PJ Joseph.
The petition stated that the decision was not in accordance with the Election Commission’s majority rule. The case will be considered again by the court on October 1.
