Kollam: A man was arrested for abducting and sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl in Kunnicode, Kollam. The accused has been identified as Pramod (37), a native of Eroor.
According to police, Pramod abducted the girl, who was standing near Vilakkudy grama panchayat office, took her inside his truck and sexually abused her. The incident took place on March 8 around 10 pm. The police have also seized the truck.
As per the case, the girl was taken to Puthur, Sasthamkotta and Vanchimukku and was sexually assaulted in the truck. She was deboarded near Vilakkudy area the next morning.
The girl’s family had lodged a missing complaint with the police on the day of the incident. Following which, the police took two youth into custody, but could not trace the girl. However, the girl later told the officials that she had gone out with the two youth, who were taken into custody.
The police, who felt suspicious of the girl’s statement, examined the CCTV footage of the area and found her getting inside a truck. Following which, she revealed about the abuse by the truck driver. Pramod was nabbed by the officials around 11 pm, produced before the court and remanded. He has been booked under POCSO, abduction and rape charges.
The investigation was led by Kunnicode SHO M Anwar, sub inspectors Ganga Prasad, Joy, CPO Binu among others.
