Trouble breaks out as police attempt to takeover Perumbavoor Odakkali church
Perumbavoor: Trouble broke out as police reached the St Mary’s Church at Odakkali, Perumbavoor to takeover the church as per High Court (HC) direction. The Jacobites reached the premises of the church and tried to block the police. The police were trying to acquire the church on the HC direction. The police have been put in a spot as the Jacobites reached in large numbers and protested against this.
Though police tried to remove the faithfuls and enter the church, the Jacobite protesters were firm on not leaving the church. The police then tried to enter into a compromise formula as more number of people reached the place. Initially, the police had tried to break open the gates and enter.
After this attempt proved futile, the police attempted to jump over the compound wall and evacuate the people inside. Following this, the protesters encircled the police. The police then attempted to hold discussions. The faithfuls made it clear that they are not ready for any kind of compromise by leaving the church premises. At the same time, police are also firm that they would enforce the High Court direction.
