Kochi: Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) on Thursday dismissed a plea moved by Ciza Thomas against the show cause notice issued by Kerala Government.

The tribunal has allowed the state government to continue proceedings per the notice issued. However, the government will have to hear Ciza Thomas's side on the matter.

Earlier, the state government issued a show cause notice to her for assuming office as temporary Vice-Chancellor (VC) of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University without the government's knowledge.

Further, the notice issued by the Higher Education Secretary noted that her action was against the Kerala Service Rules and demanded an explanation within 15 days. Following this, she approached the tribunal against the government's move.

Last month, the government removed Ciza Thomas as the senior joint director of the directorate of technical education. Interestingly, the state government appointed Dr MS Rajasree, the former VC of KTU, as the new senior joint director.

Ciza was appointed as the VC in charge following the Supreme Court verdict sacking Dr Rajasree MS as KTU VC for violating UGC norms in her appointment. The appointment was based on the order passed by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.

Currently, Ciza Thomas holds the office of the Principal at the Government College of Engineering, Barton Hill, in Thiruvananthapuram.
