Viswanath's mother, Viswanath
Kozhikode: The family of the tribal youth, who was found hanging near the Government Medical College Hospital near Kozhikode alleged that the deceased would never kill himself. The deceased Viswanathan had arrived at the hospital as a bystander for his pregnant wife.
The family had accused the security staff of questioning him after alleging that he had stolen money and a mobile phone. They also said that a mob attacked him after slapping false charges of theft.
“For the past 8 years, he was waiting for a baby. The baby was born only three days ago. He could not even see the baby properly. I am sure that he would never commit suicide as he was very happy,” said Viswanathan’s brother Gopi by alleging the death as murder. He also raised suspicion over the procedures of autopsy. The postmortem procedures had already begun before the family reached to sign, said Gopi. “We have no idea regarding the time of the autopsy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Medical College police ruled out the allegations raised by Viswanathan’s family. Though certain bystanders suspected him to be a thief, no one had manhandled him. No instances of a mob attack have been spotted in the CCTV visuals, said police.
Kerala State Human Rights Commission has registered a case suo moto over the death of Viswanathan. K Baijunath, the judicial member of the commission, has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Medical College police and hospital superintendent to submit reports within a week.
