Kalpetta: The family of the tribal man, who was found hanging in the premises of Government Medical College in Kozhikode, dismissed the findings in the autopsy report. The family alleged the death of Viswanathan to be murder and demanded a re-postmortem.

Viswanathan’s body was found from a spot where the police and Fire and Safety officials conducted a search for him on the previous day, alleged Viswanathan’s family.

Viswanathan’s brother Vinod said that a complaint will soon be filed to the Kozhikode district collector and police commissioner for carrying out a re-postmortem of the body. Requests for probe have already been handed over to the Wayanad district collector, district police chief and ITDP officer.

Viswanathan’s body was found hanging on a tree near the hospital on Saturday morning. He had arrived at the hospital as a bystander for his pregnant wife. The family accused that a mob attacked Viswanathan after alleging him to be a thief.

Police have obtained the CCTV visuals of Viswanathan running from the hospital and jumping to a narrow lane near the hospital. The investigation team also collected statements from five security staffers in the hospital. The SC/ST Commission district development officer visited the hospital on Tuesday and carried out a probe.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala demanded action against those who took law into their own hands. He also urged the government to hand over a compensation worth Rs 10 lakh to the family of Viswanathan.
