Kalpetta: A tribal man allegedly faced assault for requesting Rs 100 hike in wages. Babu, a native of the Neerchal tribal colony in Ambalavayal, suffered injuries to his face as a result of the assault. He is currently undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College.

Babu, who worked at a house, was allegedly assaulted for requesting Rs 700 in wages instead of Rs 600. The tribal man filed a complaint alleging that the house owner stomped him on his face. The medical report indicated that Babu fractured a bone in his face.

The incident was brought to light after a local found the youth with a swollen face. Babu, who lived alone, was scared to report the incident to the authorities. He was soon admitted to Sultan Bathery Taluk Hospital and later shifted to Medical College. Ambalavayal police have launched a probe in connection with the incident.
