Kozhikode: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran said that despite all controversies, the CPI would stand with farmers. The party's stand is in favour of environment and no further clarification is required in this matter, Kanam said in an interview to Mathrubhumi News.

The order allowing tree felling was issued for the farmers. But if people chopped teak and rosewood misusing this order, it is wrong, Kanam said. The farmers had applied for chopping the trees they planted, he further said.

The order was issued understanding the problems of farmers. But if the order was violated, action should be taken. The accused will say anything, but we cannot respond to it. The matter should be perceived practically and everything else is a smokescreen created by the media, he said.
