Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI is trying to save face in the tree felling controversy. Former revenue minister E Chandrasekharan and incumbent revenue minister K Rajan are meeting CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran at MN Memorial. The meeting started at 3 pm and is still continuing.
As CPI had clear stance on forest and environment related issues, the party was totally in trouble after the tree felling controversy erupted. Kanam Rajendran refused to react on the matter and had said that the government will explain further details on this.
Shortly after this, Kanam Rajendran summoned Chandrasekharan and K Rajan to MN memorial on Monday afternoon. Binoy Viswam who was forest minister in VS Achuthanandan cabinet also is present at the meeting.
It is learnt that the party is seeking information from the former minister and the incumbent minister regarding the controversies related to tree felling.
Earlier, the minister had claimed that the order was issued with positive intentions but some people misinterpreted with vested interests. The party also did not make its stand clear on the matter.
