Kozhikode: The traffic in the Thamarassery ghat road connecting Kozhikode and Wayanad districts stalled for hours as a tree uprooted and toppled across the road on Saturday.

The Ghat Protection Samiti workers and police later cut the tree that fell on to the sixth hairpin turn.

The incident happened at 2.45 pm causing a stall of movement of vehicles in the most prominent connectivity to the hill district of Wayanad for about one and a half hours. It is estimated that another two hours will be required to return to normalcy in the ghat road traffic.
