Thiruvananthapuram: Education minister V Sivankutty paid a visit to Kerala State School Sports Meet venue here on Sunday after a student was injured when a tree branch fell over her.
The mishap happened at the University Stadium when the javelin throw event was progressing. A branch of tree fell in the gallery region where contestants and parents were resting. Most of them ran away and escaped. However, a student sustained injuries in the incident. She was immediately rushed to a hospital.
According to onlookers, the student suffered head injury and is stable. The fire and safety officials chopped off the branches of the tree which posed risk to the people.
