Travel ban in state; govt to tighten restrictions
Thiruvananthapuram: The lockdown declared in the state in wake of coronavirus spread, should be viewed seriously by the public, urged Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Even with the lockdown in force, all the roads and cities were busy with people. As people are not fully cooperating with the lockdown, government has decided to tighten the restrictions, he said.
All vehicles should stop their service. Taxis and autorickshaws should ply on roads only for medical reasons and to by essential commodities. In private vehicles apart from the driver only one adult should travel, CM added.
More than five persons assembling at a place is prohibited. Department stores, super markets, bakeries, shops selling food items, groceries, milk, bread, vegetables, meat, fish, chicken and fodder will be allowed from 7 am to 5 pm. However, in Kasaragod shops will be open from 11 am to 5 pm.
Entertainment and luxury shops will not be allowed to function, he further said.
