Transgenders also become part of women wall
Thrissur: Over 200 transgenders became part of the great women wall that was raised on Tuesday evening on a stretch of 620 kilometers from the north end to the south of the state. They participated in the wall at different places in different districts, said Vijayarajamallika, transgender and a social activist. Apart from Thrissur, more number of transgenders took part in the wall in Kozhikode, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Nearly 50 transgenders participated in Thrissur district.
Women like us, who have no menstrual bleeding were proud to participate in the human chain, added Vijayarajamallika. Discrimination in the name of menstruation cannot be accepted. Renaissance values have to be upheld and the absence of this is the reason for all the hurdles transgenders face, said Vijayarajamallika.
