Track doubling in Kottayam to be ready by May 28, many train services to be cancelled for work

Kottayam: The long-awaited track doubling of the Chingavanam-Ettumanur route of the Railways will be realised on May 28. The ten hours long work of connecting the tracks began on Friday morning.

All train services during this time via Kottayam will be halted and the services will be restored by evening. The trains to North will run through the existing track while the trains heading to South on the new track. The Commission of Rail Safety will inspect the tracks on May 23.

Train services to be cancelled

Kottayam- Kollam Junction Unreserved Express Special will be called off from May 7 to 29.

Services cancelling partially

Nagercoil Junction- Kottayam Unreserved Daily Express will conduct service up to Kollam only, from May 5 to 29.

Kottayam- Nilambur Road Express will begin service from Ernakulam Town from May 6 to 29.

The service of Nilambur Road-Kottayam Express will be partially cancelled between Ernakulam Town to Kottayam from May 6 to 29.

The other train services passing through Kottayam will be allowed through Alappuzha, and many services are likely to be delayed.
