TPR falls below 10 percent as Kerala reports 7,163 cases on Tuesday
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 7,163 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, informed the health department in a press release. As many as 90 fatalities have also been reported. Total death climbed to 29,355. It includes 392 deaths that are certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the updated rules.
The TPR stands at 9.05 percent as 79,122 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Thrissur-974, Thiruvananthapuram-808, Kottayam- 762, Kozhikode- 722, Ernakulam- 709, Kollam-707, Palakkad- 441, Kannur-427, Pathanamthitta-392, Malappuram- 336, Alappuzha- 318, Idukki- 274, Wayanad-164 and Kasaragod-127.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 211 wards of 158 local self-government bodies.
2,69,762 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,61,197 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 8,565 people are in hospitals. 614 people have been taken to hospitals on Sunday.
Among the 74,456 active Covid-19 cases reported, only 10 percent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.
29 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 6,791 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 276 patients remains unidentified. 67 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 6,960 recoveries were also reported in the state.
