Toxic content in new-born’s blood; Child Welfare Committee seeks report from police
Ambalappuzha (Alappuzha): In connection with an incident in which toxic elements were traced in the blood of a newborn baby who died at Alappuzha Medical College, the Child Welfare Committee demanded a report from the police. Ambalappuzha police have charged a case for unnatural death and have started investigation.
Police have already recorded the statement of some of the relatives of the baby’s parents. The 11-day-old baby boy of Alappuzha Avalookkunnu natives Karthik Kamal and Surabhi died on Friday.
Toxic elements were detected in the baby’s blood in a test conducted four days before death. Following this, the police intervened in the issue based on the information given by the doctors.
After post-mortem, the internal organs of the infant have been sent to Amrita Hospital in Kochi for forensic examination. The police are awaiting the result of the forensic test for taking further actions, said Ambalappuzha CI M. K. Murali.
