Thiruvananthapuram: The government on Wednesday removed tourism department director Krishna Teja from the post after he issued a controversial circular. PB Nooh IAS will hold the additional charge of the department.
Teja asked the department officers to deal complaints with caution, especially from women colleagues, and to record the details of complainants, in a circular dated June 17.
However, when the circular triggered controversy, tourism minister Mohammed Riyas revoked it and sought an explanation from the tourism director. It has been pointed out that the circular was revoked as it violated both the rights of women employees and government policies.
The circular noted that several women staff of the tourism department who raised allegations against the officials withdrew their complaints during the probe. This resulted in the time loss of the officials, mentioned Krishna Teja in the circular.
