Thiruvananthapuram: Indian Meteorological Department forecasted heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on Monday in the districts except Kasaragod and Kannur.

The cyclonic formations in the Southwestern Bay of Bengal region and northern parts of Sri Lanka cause the recent downpour in Kerala.

IMD alerted the possibility of wind at a speed of 40 kilometres per hour and torrential rain with thunder in the isolated regions of Thrissur and Ernakulam. Rain may continue in the coming days too as a low-pressure belt exists over South India.
