New Delhi: Congress MP from Kerala, Kodikunnil Suresh, surprised everyone on Monday by taking oath in Hindi as a member of the 17th Lok Sabha. The Kerala MP's move was welcomed by BJP with loud thumping of desks.
However, this irked UPA Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who scolded the MP. She asked him, couldn’t have he taken the oath in his mother tongue.
Suresh was the second member to take oath after Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The oath was administered by pro tem Speaker Virendra Singh.
Following this, the other Congress MPs from Kerala Rajmohan Unnithan, V K Sreekantan who had decided to take oath in Hindi have changed their minds.
