Tomorrow's hartal will be illegal, says police
Kasaragod: The head of Kasaragod district police stated that the hartal that was called by various organisations against Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens is illegal. The call for hartal is being promoted as a collective decision by SDPI, Welfare party, Kerala Muslim Youth Federation, BSP, SGO and Solidarity Organisations.
As per the High Court order, the organisation which is organising the hartal should provide a notice seven days before the hartal date. So as of now, no official announcement has been made in this regard.
The police chief also said that the leaders of the parties concerned will have to pay for the damages caused by the hartal if it takes place on Tuesday. Since local body elections are also taking place on the same day, the leaders will also be held accountable for election-related crimes, police said.
