Toddy, wine and beer: Kerala govt changes stance
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has decided to withdraw the affidavit submitted in the Supreme Court seeking clarity in its order on national ban on liquor outlets along National and State highways.
The government decision comes in the wake of a controversy erupting over the arguments raised by Kerala in the petition.
With the government stand that toddy, wine and beer should not be considered as liquor turning into a controversy, Excise Minister T P Ramakrishnan has announced the change in government stand.
The Advocate General has asked the government pleaders to withdraw the petition from the Supreme Court today itself.
The Supreme Court had asked the state governments to inform their stand on the issue before March 31, 2017.
