Cheruvanchery: A toddler drowned after falling in a pit filled with water near her residence at Cheruvanchery in Kannur.
The accident happened when two-year-old Avanika was playing in the courtyard of her house on Saturday afternoon.
Avanika is the only daughter of Mondayode colony native Manoharan and Sindhu.
The pit was dug for storing water for agricultural purposes and constructional works of their new house. Police informed that the child, who was playing in the yard, might have accidentally fallen into the pit.
Though she was rushed to the hospital immediately, her life could not be saved.
