Kochi: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) has submitted a charge sheet before the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court against Youth Affairs Secretary T O Sooraj in connection with a disproportionate asset case.

Vigilance has examined the financial dealings and transactions of Sooraj, a former Public Works Secretary, between 2004 and 2014. On November 20, 2014, Vigilance raided the residences of Sooraj and his relatives.

He had headed many important departments including industries and PWD between 2004 and 2014. The Vigilance has found that during this period, he amassed Rs 11 crore beyond his known sources of income. His earnings exceeded his income by 314 percent.

Vigilance, during the raid, had seized documents of various assets he owned including houses and godowns in Kochi and nearby areas. He also owned assets outside Kerala, according to the Vigilance.

The central government gave its nod to prosecute Sooraj last month after much paper works. The investigation against him is being carried out by Ernakulam Vigilance Special cell.
