TN native catches dreaded thief ‘Mariyarpootham’ from Kaloor house

Kochi: Dreaded thief Johnson alias Mariyarpootham (54) was caught early morning on Monday here by a Tamil Nadu native during a theft attempt.

Kanthasami, who caught Johnson, was stabbed on his head. However, he is out of any danger now.

Kanthasami lives alone at his rented house in Kaloor and is a staffer of IGNOU. He woke up from sleep at night hearing a sound and saw Johnson in his room. He immediately grabbed Johnson. The neighbours woke up hearing noise and caught Johnson. Meanwhile, Johnson stabbed Kanthasami and also bit him.

Johnson is a history-sheeter who easily moves through terraces and walls. He was earlier arrested for theft, but was released after one-and-a-half-year.

Johnson is notorious for returning to the same place and Kanthasami is worried if he would come back when released.
