Muthanga: A man hailing from Tamil Nadu had a narrow escape from a wild elephant in the Muthanga area of Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. The incident happened a few days ago and the visuals of the same have been widely circulating on social media.

According to the forest department, the man and his friend flouted the norm and stopped the vehicle they were travelling to capture a photo of the wild elephant. One among the duo reportedly trespassed into the forest and ventured near the elephant.

The animal came charging and the person had to run for his life. However, on seeing Safari vans on the road the elephant stopped. The man fell into the bushes multiple times but saved his life.

Meanwhile, the forest took the duo into custody and slapped a fine of Rs 4,000 on the person who approached the elephant. Officials added that stringent action will be evoked against violators.
