Thiruvananthapuram: In a major update in the Titanium job fraud case, the police on Wednesday registered six more cases after more people approached with complaints.
Following this, a special investigation team, led by district crime records bureau assistant commissioner JK Dinil, was constituted to probe the cases.
The investigation team also consists of circle inspectors of Museum, Cantonment and Poojappura stations. As per the police assumption, the extent of the fraud is likely to go up further.
As per hints, a top-ranking political leader’s links with the accused had paved the way for the fraud. The police are probing to find out whether the leader has involvement in the case.
Meanwhile, some trade unions have demanded investigation into the recent appointments to the post of operator in the Travancore Titanium Products Ltd (TTP). Lately, a total of 120 people have been appointed to various positions in the company.
Meanwhile, the Venjaramoodu police on Wednesday took prime accused Divya Nair for evidence collection in Ambalamukku and Kudappanakunnu. Evidence will be gathered from the house of the accused on Thursday too.
As per reports, the accused operated the crime as a gang and embezzled around Rs 15 crore from job aspirants after promising employment in TTP.
