Thiruvananthapuram: Passengers will have to confirm if unreserved coaches are present while booking tickets via UTS application.

The details of all passenger trains, superfast and express trains passing within two to four hours through a particular station would be available in the application. However, using the tickets reserved through UTS app, the passengers can avail tickets in the general coaches of those trains. If the passengers travel other than the general coaches with these tickets, they will be fined. Information regarding this has been given in the app itself.

Before the wake of Covid 19, tickets booked through UTS app could be used to travel in the general coaches of all trains, except a few notified by the railways.

The general coaches will resume services in Karakkal, Thiruvananthapuram- Mangalore and Chennai- Alleppey Express trains from April 1.

Date on which the other trains restart general coaches

  • Thiruvananthapuram- Chennai Mail, Chennai- Mangalore Mail, Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Superfast - April 16

  • Sabari Express- April 20

  • Amritha Express, West Coast train, Ernakulam- Bengaluru Intercity, Ananthapuri Express- May 1

This system will help to book general tickets at a fixed rate for at least four passengers in passenger, express and superfast trains. The app can be operated only within 5 kilometres radius of a railway station.
