Sahad-Sulaiman
Thrissur: In a shocking incident, a man set his 28-year-old differently-abled son ablaze in broad daylight in Pattikkara here on Wednesday. The deceased is Sahad. His father Sulaiman is under arrest.
The incident happened around 10:30 am while Sahad’s mother Sareena was conversing with a neighbour. Sulaiman reportedly dragged him to the verandah and covered his body with sacks and cloth. Following that, Sulaiman poured diesel he stocked in a can on Sahad and set him on fire. Sahad had speech difficulties and was not even able to alert anybody. Sareena rushed to the spot after hearing the sound of the blast, but Sahad was already engulfed by fire. Locals intervened to rescue Sahad, but the attempt failed.
Meanwhile, Sulaiman fled the scene and was later nabbed from Mazhuvancheri. According to police, Sulaiman confessed to the crime. Neighbours alleged that Sulaiman never cared for Sahad.
