Thrissur Pooram tomorrow; Sample fireworks enthral crowds
Thrissur: The city of Thrissur was all dipped in the colorful ambience created by the sample fireworks. The countdown for ‘Thrissur Pooram’, the grand festival, has begun. The sample fireworks started by 7.45 pm on Monday. The crowd cheered for each colour that bloomed in the sky. The fireworks was started by Paramekkavu side. Thiruvambadi side started their version of fireworks by 8.20 pm.
The sparklers included both traditional and novel items. A huge crowd was present to enjoy the sample fireworks. As the people were not allowed to enter Swaraj Round, all other paths were packed with people. After a long wait, when the first cracker was fired, the crowd began to cheer loud.
The display of the decorations by Paramekkavu side started on Monday. The idol of Naithalakkavu goddess will be brought on the back of the elephant Thechikottukavu Ramachandran to open the East Gopura Nada on Tuesday morning. Thiruvambadi side will start the display of their decorations on Tuesday. The elephants will be assembled at Thekkinkadu in the evening.
On the Pooram day that falls on 25th, the minor Pooram parties will start arriving to bow down before Lord Vadakkumnathan from morning itself. Madathil Varavu, Ilanjithara Melam and Kudamattam will add to the attractiveness of festivities. On the next day of Pooram, a grand fireworks and Pakalpooram will be conducted. The festival will conclude by 12.30 noon after the goddesses bids farewell.
Considering the heavy rush in connection with Thrissur Pooram, traffic control was imposed in Thrissur city from Wednesday between 7 am and Thursday afternoon. Vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city and parking in Swaraj Round also will not be allowed.
