Thrissur: The 36-hour-long Thrissur Pooram started in the cultural capital of Kerala Thrissur. The pooram vilambaram ceremony kick-started after the Cochin Devasom Board elephant Ernakulam Sivakumar opened the Thekke Gopura Nada of Neythalakkavu Bhagavathi temple on Monday.
The procession from various areas arrived at Vadakkumnath Temple on Tuesday morning. Kanimangalam Sasthav was the first to enter the Vadakkumnath Temple. The Paramekavu faction will start the elephant procession by noon with 15 elephants. Then the Ilazhithara Melam will be held at 2.30 pm. This is followed by the most colourful 'Kudamattam' events.
On Wednesday, the splendour of fireworks will light the sky at around 3:30 am.
