Thrissur: The long-awaited Thrissur Pooram fireworks that were postponed started at 2 pm on Friday as the weather conditions were favourable. Both Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu Devaswoms informed that all necessary arrangements have been made to conduct the fireworks.
The fireworks display that was scheduled to be conducted on May 11 morning was put off indefinitely due to heavy rains.
The firecrackers stored in two different buildings for Thrissur pooram are safe under police protection. The buildings with over 600 square feet of space have been constructed with granite walls as per the guidelines of PESO.
The Thekkinkkadu maidan where the fireworks were displayed was under the strict surveillance of the police. Traffic restrictions were imposed on Swaraj Ground.
