Thrissur: The festivities of Thrissur Pooram will commence on Monday with the ceremonial ‘Kodiyettam’ (flag hoisting) at the Thiruvambady, Paramekkavu temples and the eight other participant temples. The pooram will be held on April 30.
The flag hoisting at Paramekkavu Temple will take place between 11.30 am and 12 pm. Whereas, flag hoisting at Thiruvambady Temple is scheduled to be held between 11 am and 11.30 am.
Following which, ‘Kodiyettam’ ceremony will be held at the participant temples namely Nethilakkavu Bhagavathi, Karamukku Bhagavathi, Ayyanthole Bhagavathi, Laloor Bhagavathi, Choorakkattukavu Bhagavathi, Chembukkavu Bhagavathi, Panamukkumpally Sastha and Kanimangalam Sastha.
The sample fireworks and Chamaya Pradarshanam, the exhibition of decorative items used for pooram, will be held on April 28. Spectators will be allowed to enter the Pooram ground, at least partially, during the display of fireworks.
