Another man ends life after being unable to repay loan taken from Karuvannur bank

Jose

Thrissur: A person who had taken a loan from Karuvannur Service Cooperative bank ended life, allegedly on Thursday morning, after he received an intimation from the bank, asking him to repay loan. The deceased was identified as Jose, a native of Thalikakkonam.

According to the ward councillor of the place and family members of Jose, he was undergoing severe mental stress after the bank authorities asked him to repay the loan amount. It is learnt that Jose has taken Rs 4 lakh as loan and was unable to repay it.

Allegedly, this is the second case of suicide associated with Karuvannur Service Cooperative bank. Earlier, a former councillor from Congress party also had committed suicide, allegedly after receiving a notice for revenue recovery from the bank.

At that time, there were reports that the bank has quickened the recovery procedures of loans in the wake of a loan scam worth more than Rs 100 crore, which was unearthed recently.
