Thrissur: Four accused in the case over the murder of a young man by alleged 'moral police' in Thrissur were apprehended by the Kerala Police on Friday, one week after the victim succumbed to injuries from the attack. The accused, Arun, Niranjan, Ameer, and Suhail, who are from Cherpu, had been on the run since the incident and were found hiding in Uttarakhand by the police. They are expected to be brought back to Kerala on Saturday.
The victim, Sahar (32), was attacked by a mob on the night of February 18 while he was visiting a friend at Thiruvanikkavu. After spending 17 days in the hospital, Sahar passed away on March 7.
Sahar's family had alleged that the police had helped the accused escape. Meanwhile, the police arrested two individuals who aided the suspects in their escape. It is assumed that another suspect, Rahul, has fled the country. A team led by Iringalakkuda DySP is investigating the murder.
