Thrissur: More details of the gang rape in Thrissur have come out on Tuesday. A Plus Two girl was gang-raped by her father’s three friends. It is revealed that the accused executed the crime by taking advantage of their acquaintance with her parents.
The trio raped the minor girl when her mother went to Malappuram for releasing her father who was booked in a ganja case. The incident took place two months ago at Punnayurkulam here.
While going to Malappuram, the girl’s mother had asked the three men to keep an eye on the girl who was left alone at home. By taking advantage of this opportunity, the accused reached the girl’s house and gang-raped her. The girl’s mother attempted to conceal the crime even after the girl revealed the incident, said the police.
Vadakkekkad police registered a case and initiated a probe after the girl disclosed the ordeal to her teacher during a counselling session at the school. The teachers reported the incident to Childline soon after the counselling session and a complaint was filed with the police.
Police booked three men in the case and arrested one of them under the POCSO act.
According to police, the three accused got acquainted with the girl’s parents through ganja sale. The girl’s father who engaged in ganja business was in the custody of Malappuram police when the trio raped the girl.
Police recorded the first arrest in the case on August 13. It is reported that police have intensified the search for the other two who are absconding. A team led by Guruvayur police is investigating the case.
