A rogue elephant made a bus go in reverse for 8 kilometres on the Anamala road. A private bus servicing the Chalakudy-Valparai route, ‘Cheenakkas’, was stopped by the elephant at Ambalapara. The driver of the bus, Ambujakshan, had to go in reverse gear as the road was congested with no space to turn the bus around.

The bus reached Anakkayam in reverse gear. The tourist vehicles that were behind the bus took different routes on the way. The elephant went back to the forest after reaching Anakkayam. The elephant blocked the bus at around 8:20 am on Tuesday and reached Anakkayam at 9:15 am.

As many as nine vehicles including two KSRTC buses and two private buses were stuck on both sides. At around 6:45 pm, the elephant blocked another KSRTC bus at Ambalapara.
