Thrissur corporation: Efforts on to pacify C N Balakrishnan
Thrissur: Efforts to pacify Minister CN Balakrishnan has begun after he said that there will not be any compromise on his demand to project his daughter C. B. Geetha for the mayor post to the corporation.
DCC president O Abdurahmankutty conducted discussions with Balakrishnan in this regard. It is being thought that the issue can be solved only through the involvement of the state leadership. Indications are there that the seat allocation issue came up in the talks held at Thiruvananthapuram between Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala.
Meanwhile, C. B. Geetha said that she has informed the party of her willingness to contest and it is upto the party to take a decision. Senior congress leaders had come up against projecting C. B. Geetha as the mayor of the corporation. Former minister K.P. Vishvanathan, MLA T.N. Prathapan, MLA P.A .Madhavan, MP Jackson, N.K. Sudheer and Thrissur development authority chairman K Radhakrishnan had send a letter to the Chief Minister, KPCC President and Home Minister citing this matter.
The corporation selection committe meeting which was held on Sunday cound not take a decision in this regard. All other groups except (I) is united in the move against Geetha, in the district where group politics is strong.
