Kochi: Amid the heated campaign for Thrikkakara bypoll, Bosco Kalamassery, an independent candidate has come forward with a complaint against UDF candidate Uma Thomas. He demanded to nullify the candidature of Uma Thomas for allegedly offering a reward for the booth which poll the highest number of votes to her.
Bosco has raised the complaint by pointing out a Facebook post of an NRI group under Congress. Photo and symbol of the UDF candidate were used on this Facebook post.
Taking to Facebook, the Indian National Cultural Society (INCAS) Youth Wing has announced a reward of Rs 2,5001 for the booth which polls the highest number of votes to the UDF candidate. The Facebook post of INCAS triggered a controversy after the independent candidate demanded to nullify the candidature of Uma Thomas.
According to reports, he has filed a complaint with the returning officer and Thrikkakara police.
In his complaint, he pointed out the violation of the representation of the people act and demanded to cancel the candidature of Uma Thomas.
Talking to mathrubhumi.com, Bosco Kalamassery has revealed that Thrikkakara police registered an FIR over his complaint.
Thrikkakara ACP informed that action has been taken to identify the IP address of the server to track the person who made the controversial post. Details of the case will be handed over to the election commission, he added.
