Thrissur: A three-member family was found dead inside a lodge room in Thrissur. The incident took place at Malabar Lodge near the KSRTC bus depot. The deceased have been identified as Chennai natives Santhosh Peter, his wife Suni Peter and their daughter (around 20 years).
A suicide note has been recovered from the room. Financial issues could have led to the deaths, police said.
The family took the room at the lodge around 12 pm on June 4. They told the lodge authorities that they would be staying there until the night of June 7. They even asked the lodge employees to call them if they fell asleep late that night.
It is learnt that Santhosh and family shut the door of their room after having dinner on Wednesday night. As they did not vacate the lodge even after midnight, lodge employees knocked on their door. But, there was no response. Out of suspicion, the lodge authorities informed the police.
Later, when the door was opened, the trio were found dead inside. Santhosh was found hanging, while the body of Suni was lying on the bed and that of their daughter was spotted inside the bathroom.
Meanwhile, the inquest procedures have been completed and the cause of deaths can be ascertained only after the autopsy. A police investigation is underway into the incident.
