Three nabbed in Kerala over arrest of Malayali youth in Qatar for possessing drugs


Varapuzha: Police have nabbed three individuals concerning the arrest of a Kerala youth for possessing drugs in Qatar. Niyas(33), Ashiq(25), and Ratheesh(26) were arrested by Varapuzha Police on Saturday based on a complaint lodged by the family of the youth.

Yashwant, a Varapuzha native, was caught with drugs after arriving in Qatar. According to police, Yashwant went to Qatar after the three accused promised a job ahead of the World Cup.

The accused also provided him with a free VISA and ticket. Before leaving for Qatar, he was asked to carry a package and deliver it to someone. However, the Qatari police arrested him and put him behind the bars soon after he landed in the country.

Following this, his mother lodged a complaint with the Ernakulam Rural Police Chief Vivek Kumar. Based on the complaint, an investigation team nabbed the accused. Police also found that a person called Shameer, another job aspirant was also arrested similarly. Police are investigating whether they have any connection with the international drug racket.
