Three held for attacking minor girl on train

Kochi: Three men have been arrested for allegedly attacking a 16-year-old girl who was travelling with her father on a train. The prime accused has been identified as Joy Jacob (53), the third accused as Sijo Antony (43), and the fourth accused as Suresh (53). The accused who were on the run were nabbed by Ernakulam Railway Police Inspector Krispin Sam and his team.

Joy was nabbed from his relative's house in Wayanad, whereas Suresh and Sijo were caught from Kochi. Joy was brought to Kochi by Thursday night. Two more accused are yet to be arrested.

The arrests were recorded following the extensive search led by the police team centring around Thrissur, Wayanad and Ernakulam.

The incident leading up to the case took place inside Ernakulam-Guruvayur Express Special train at around 7.50 pm on Saturday. The gang of five men also attacked the minor girl's father when one of them misbehaved with the girl inside the train.

Thrissur Railway Police registered the case over the incident and later transferred it to Ernakulam South Railway Police. It is reported that the five men got off on various stations till Irinjalakuda. According to the police, Joy misbehaved with the girl and the other accused manhandled the girl’s father when he questioned Joy.
