Three sustain hack injuries amid World Cup victory celebrations in Kannur

Palliyanmoola: In a tragic incident, three people were injured after being hacked during clashes amid FIFA World Cup victory celebrations in Kannur. The incident took place in Palliyamoola on Monday at 12.40 am.

The victims have been identified as Anurag, Adarsh and Alex Antony. They are currently undergoing treatment at two private hospitals. One among them sustained severe injuries.

The police have taken six people into custody in connection with the incident.

An argument over the World Cup win escalated to a violent conflict after some Argentina fans ridiculed France supporters.

Soon after, the police arrived at the spot and rushed the victims to hospital. Investigation about whether the accused had consumed drugs are also underway.

A similar clash had erupted in the area a few days back following Brazil’s defeat in the World Cup. However, nobody was injured at that time.
