Those who try cheap tricks should remember this is Kerala; CPM slams Customs affidavit
Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM has come up against the affidavit filed by the Customs stating that the chief minister has direct involvement in the dollar smuggling case. The CPM secretariat alleged in a statement that BJP has lost their senses on knowing LDF will be in power for another term.
The affidavit filed by the Customs in the high court shows that the central government has degraded themselves so that they can go to any extent to defeat Pinarayi Vijayan-led government. The central probe agencies have become mere tools for the election campaign. This challenge raised by the UDF and BJP will be given an apt reply, it is pointed out.
The Customs filed the affidavit in the court claiming that it was revealed by the gold smuggling case accused in a confidential statement given to the magistrate. It is clear that the affidavit was filed with vested interests when the election is around the corner. This is violation of the code of conduct and misuse of probe agencies, the statement noted.
The ED, Customs and CBI have taken up the task of writing statements and affidavits on the basis of the allegations raised by BJP and Congress. The agencies which were probing gold smuggling have not found anything yet. The public had destroyed their mean strategies in the local body polls. So, those who try cheap tricks should keep in mind that this is Kerala, the statement noted.
