Thiruvananthapuram: Being the Industries Minister of the state, I had taken initiatives aimed at the growth of the industrial sector and also the development of the state, said EP Jayarajan, who stepped down from the post of the minister on Friday.
“Those annoyed over these moves acted against me,” he said in an explanation in a post on his Facebook page.
“Some prominent players, who are ruling the industrial sector, wanted by expulsion. My actions had annoyed them,” he said.
“The controversies arose in this context were well utlised by the political opponents and also the tainted hands. However, I didn’t want to bring any disgrace to the party and hence the decision to resign from the post of minister was taken,” he said and winds up the post by offering gratitude to all those who supported him.
In the wake of the appointment row, E P Jayarajan had resigned from the Cabinet on Friday.
Following the controversy, two of his relatives who were appointed in PSUs, had put in their papers. The Vigilance has also announced a preliminary investigation into the appointments.
