Malappuram: Muslim League leader PK Kunhalikutty on Thursday hit out at the allegation that he intervened to save CPM leader P Jayarajan in the Ariyil Shukoor murder case. He said he had received some hints regarding those who were behind it.

The Muslim League leader said he may leave alone a person who comes to kill him, but not those behind these allegations.

Former CPM leader and advocate TP Hareendran had raised an allegation that Kunhalikutty tried to save P Jayarajan from the conspiracy charge in the murder case. Hareendran stated in a Facebook post that the investigation officer revealed this to him.

Kunhalikutty said the investigating officer himself said that no such thing had happened and so, the advocate’s allegations would not stand. There is no basis for the allegation. It is just hearsay, Kunjalikutty added.

The party workers and the public have already understood the reality, he said.

"We fought in the Supreme Court to hand over the murder case to CBI after seeing that the charges imposed by the state police were not enough. Those involved in the case know the part I played in all this,” he said.
