Thomas Isaac calls CAG report absurd; says it is not Supreme Court
Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister Thomas Isaac criticised the remarks made in the CAG report. He also stated that making absurd remarks in the report will be considered as contempt of the Assembly.
Thomas Isaac said that he does not intend to question the remarks made by the CAG before the Parliamentary Affairs Committee discusses it. CAG has interpreted Kerala’s action as an encroachment into the privileges of the Centre. Accusing the CAG of ignorance, Thomas Isaac added that the CAG was not the Supreme Court.
He further alleged that the CAG report was prepared in a hurry with a hidden motive and without discussing with anyone.
The CAG report had stated that borrowing Rs 2,150 crores from abroad using masala bonds was a violation of the constitution and called it an encroachment into the Centre’s privileges.
