Thiruvananthapuram: The name Shilpa may seem to be unfamiliar for many, but she is the one who managed to enter the secretariat compound all alone as part of the protest staged by KSU recently.
She has been the lone female presence during the SFI-KSU conflicts in Thrissur Law College. She was also the firebrand activist of the KSU. Shilpa led protests and agitations from the forefront.
When a girl is in the front, the police would hesitate to beat up or even touch her. It was Shilpa’s bravery that saved the male leaders of KSU from police action to an extent. She has also helped the boys to retaliate by handing them stones and wooden rods.
Shilpa showed the same courage while jumping over the compound wall of the secretariat the other day. The male police officers had to remain mute spectators in front of her lone protest.
Shilpa studied till Plus Two at St. Aloysius School in Elthuruth where no student politics is allowed. She became active in KSU after joining Thrissur Law College.
With her excellence and leadership quality, Shilpa was directly promoted from Manalur block president of KSU to its state secretary post. 26-year-old Shilpa currently practices in Thrissur court and is a member of Arimbur panchayat.
